William J. Tonelli, III (“Bill”) is a catastrophic personal injury attorney and Managing Partner of Tonelli Law. Bill represents individuals and families whose lives have been permanently altered by serious injury or wrongful death, and he approaches every case with a trial-ready mindset grounded in real courtroom experience and jury insight.
Bill earned his Juris Doctor from Barry University School of Law in 2012 and his undergraduate degree from University of Central Florida. After law school, he spent more than a decade with a prominent Orlando personal injury firm, where he represented over 1,400 injured clients throughout Florida. Over the course of his career, Bill has personally recovered tens of millions of dollars on behalf of injured clients in high-stakes cases involving traumatic brain injury, catastrophic orthopedic injury, medical malpractice, and wrongful death.
In addition to his personal injury practice, Bill is also a respected jury consultant in serious civil cases. Since 2023, he has been retained on more than two dozen trials through, contributing to over $28 million in verdicts and settlements, including more than $3 million in post-selection recoveries directly attributable to strategic jury selection. His consulting work focuses on real-time juror analysis, voir dire strategy, cause-challenge development, and strike strategy—often appearing under limited appearance to argue cause challenges directly to the court.
This jury-side experience gives Bill a rare and powerful perspective: he understands not only how to build catastrophic injury cases, but how jurors actually evaluate negligence, credibility, causation, and damages in real time. He brings those insights directly into his personal injury practice, preparing cases from day one with juror perception in mind and identifying risks long before trial.
Bill is deeply committed to public service and regularly serves as a Guardian ad Litem in Central Florida, representing underprivileged, abused, and neglected children through the Legal Aid Society. In this role, he advocates for children who cannot advocate for themselves, reinforcing his belief that the justice system must protect the most vulnerable.
Bill is a member of the Florida Bar and is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. He is an active member of the Orange County Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Florida Justice Association, and the Central Florida Trial Lawyers Association. He has been named an “Awesome Attorney” by Orlando Family for multiple years and maintains a perfect 5.0 rating on Avvo.
